How to Adjust the Speed of Siemens Inverter (Analog Mode)?

1. Basic connection

Wiring options

There are two wiring methods:

  • NPN type (such as opening a switch)
  • PNP type (such as closing a switch)

Important! When using an external power supply:

  • Never connect 24V and 0V wires together
  • Double check the + and - wiring to avoid damage
  •

Speed Control Wiring

  • Use the AI1 or AI2 ports
  • These ports accept:
  • Voltage signals (0-10V)
  • Current signals (4-20mA)
  • Always use shielded cables (such as TV antenna cables) to prevent interference
  •

2. Setting up your inverter

First time setup

-Factory reset:

  • Set P0010 = 30
  • Then set P0970 = 1

-Quick setup mode (P0010 = 1)

-Enter your motor details (such as nameplate information)

-Select Terminal Control (P0700 = 2)

Speed Control Setup

P0756: Signal that tells the inverter what you are using:

0 = 0-10V knob

3 = 4-20mA Dial

P0775: Reverse operation:

Set to 1 to see the actual speed when running in reverse

P1000: Set to 2 to use analog input for speed control

3. Use preset configuration

  • Siemens provides ready-made settings called "Connection Macros"
  • Important: Always reset before changing macros
  • If you do not reset, the inverter may malfunction and behave abnormally

4. Common problems and solutions

  • No response to speed control?
  • Check if P0756 matches your control type
  • Test with a multimeter whether the signal is reaching
  •
  • Speed display is wrong when reversing?
  • Set P0775 = 1
  • Check if there are loose wires or electrical noise

5. Useful tips

  • Always test at low speed first
  • Use high-quality shielded cables
  • Save settings after setting
  • Check connections regularly
